History of Bioethics in London, Ontario

London, Ontario, was home to one of the first organizations that contributed to the development of bioethics in Canada, the now defunct Westminster Institute for Ethics and Human Values (founded in 1978). With the creation of Western’s Centre for Bioethics on December 4th, 2025, we initiated a study of the history of bioethics in the region, which will involve interviews with key individuals involved with the Westminster Institute as well as archiving key publications of the Westminster Institute, including its short-lived journal, the Westminster Institute Review.
Stay tuned for updates from this study.
